History of DCPL
It all started with late Mr. Manmohan Singh Matharu, an expert mechanic with a very technical mind. There was no machine in this world that he could not fix or get started. He worked for companies like JCB, Escorts, Voltas, etc. and finally went into business on his own in the 1970's. He started with manufacturing spare parts for TATA P&H crawler cranes. Mr. Manmohan Singh Matharu is credited with erecting numbers 1, 2, 3 and 4 of the first Tata P&H 75 ton crawler cranes in India.
DCPL's predecessor was Techno Mech Engineering Works, also the first Telco dealer in New Delhi. Techno Mech was known as the only heavy duty crane company in North India in the 70's and 80's. Under Mr. Manmohan Singh's guidance, Techno Mech is responsible for repairing and supplying some of the first starter cranes for most of the present large crane houses in India.
Mr. Manmohan Singh Matharu's son, Mr. Preet Pal Matharu, an Electrical Engineering graduate from Delhi College of Engineering, worked for Voltas for 5 years before finally joining Techno Mech Engineering Works in 1982. After his joining, the business took off to a whole new level. From doing single day crane erections and manufacturing small crane parts, the company started doing mass erections for dump trucks and large electric shovels at mining sites and installing radar systems for the Indian army.
Under Mr. Preet Pal Matharu's guidance, the name Techno Mech Engineering Works was changed to Delhi Cranex Pvt. Ltd. in 1994. DCPL is credited with executing some of the largest single order mining equipment erection contracts, escalator installation contracts, custom machines manufacturing such as HIAB knuckleboom cranes, and also development of proprietary technology. Mr. Preet Pal is the pioneer in the escalator installation industry in India. He laid the foundations of how the escalators in India would be installed. Till this day, DCPL is the number 1 contractor in the country for escalators. It's only competitors are former DCPL employees who learnt the process under the mentorship of Mr. Preet Pal Matharu.
The future is bright, for DCPL and its associates.
